Choosing pieces
Which frames and panels fit what you are growing.
The system was built around tomatoes, peppers, pole beans, cucumbers, peas, squash and eggplants, plus cold frames, raised beds and straw-bale gardening. A short guide to which piece does what, before you go to the full catalog.
Tomatoes, pole beans, cucumbers
The Trellis Fence Frame stands 79 inches once installed, 16 inches of that in the ground, and is the upright the rest of the system hangs on. Pair it with a Trellis Fence Panel or the narrower Trellis Fence for the climbing surface itself.
Peppers, eggplants, and shorter vining veggies
The Medium Size Trellis gives slightly shorter plants the same support without the extra height, so peppers and eggplants grow up rather than sprawling out.
Peas and squash
The Trellis Fence Panel and the Trellis Fence both name peas and squash directly, alongside pole beans, tomatoes and cucumbers. The narrower Trellis Fence doubles as a garden shelf.
Cold frames and season extension
The Trellis Fence Hoop arches over a bed to carry row cover for a cold snap, and the same frames used for a summer trellis convert to a cold frame for spinach or seedlings in the off season.
Raised beds and straw-bale gardening
The Trellis Fence Frame and Panel Kit are built for raised beds, straw-bale gardening and potting benches as much as for a row in open ground, since every piece shares the same connection.
